2018 – An Unforgettable Year for NYC & Israeli Tech

As we get ready to hit the holidays, we wanted to share a quick recap of 2018. And what an incredible year it has been for ICONYC, and for New York and Israeli techies! First, NYC continues to position itself as the most exciting hub for innovation, as Amazon selected NYC for its HQ2, investing $2.5 billion and creating more than 25,000 jobs in New York City alone. This news was followed by Google announcing this past week that they are investing $1 billion to double its workforce in NYC, showing it’s looking past Silicon Valley for growth.
While NYC continues to attract the attention of tech giants, Israeli startups continue to flock to NYC, as the Big Apple clearly becomes the desired destination for Israeli founders expanding to the US market. According to Israeli market research company IVC Research Center, New York is home to over 650 Israeli companies, where California is a base for “only” 430. The tables have completely turned.
